Felix Lipkin is an experienced data scientist and the founder of InCanopy. He has over a decade of experience working on climate adaptation projects for the CSIRO's cities program, where he has developed expertise in using data to address complex urban challenges.

Background - In 2018, InCanopy set out to answer a simple question. Could technology do what humans couldn't – trace and track every tree across an entire city? The answer was Tree Ledger – the first platform to measure every urban tree, year after year. The Tree ledger website is: www.incanopy.com.au

Tree Ledger is a new approach to monitoring urban canopy. It offers a fresh technological perspective to tree canopy analytics and has been deployed over Greater Metropolitan Melbourne.

The Victorian government seeks 30% tree canopy cover across metropolitan Melbourne, yet recent planning changes reduce the space available for landscaping and canopy trees and encourages higher density construction that removes existing canopy trees. How will those 2 aims be measured?
